There are some products and services that the beginning internet marketer is going to want to have. There’s no way around it……Luke wouldn’t have taken on Vader without his lightsaber, ya know what I mean?
With that said, there are some low- or no-cost tools that will help get you started. So, here is my list of basic stuff to gear up for your journey:
Domain Name and Hosting Account.
Some “gurus” will tell you that you don’t need a website. To a degree, thats true….but it can be a lot harder without one. At the very least I would get a domain, and do a redirect to a free site if I had to…but having your own hosting is so much better.
Absolutely necessary for list building. This is one area where I wouldn’t settle for a free service. In fact, if I had to make the choice to save a few bucks, I would go with a free website solution and pay for an autoresponder.
I think it’s important to learn a bit about website building. Even if you are using blogs or other type of sites, a bit of skill can go a long way. I linked a decent free editor, although I use and recommend another site builder that I will talk more about later.
I love the gmail. Great interface, and you can set up a ton of accounts quickly….important if you need multiple accounts for various online services
That is my basic list…I’ll be adding some advanced tools in another post a bit later. Please leave a comment with any questions or tool suggestions.
